MILITARY GRANDPARENTS TAKE HEART
DON'T FORGET OUR MILITARY DURING THE HOLIDAYS
The holidays will soon be upon us
and we try to think of ways we can brighten our military grandchildren's time overseas. Print up labels
with their address and post on a bulletin board for people—your friends, your
church congregation, work buddies—to
send them Thanksgiving and Christmas cards. Then, too, when the family gathers for Thanksgiving have them send holiday cards and notes. Package cookies and send to them
and their group of buddies. If it’s too big a project for you, enlist your
friends to help. I know there are some other cookie bakers in your midst. Also,
ask your grandchild what they need, then enlist some people to help prepare a
care package. A great idea is to ask a teacher to have her classroom write
letters to soldiers.
Then
to aid them and you, spent an abundant time in prayer. Prayer can move
mountains. Pray the Scriptures, inserting their names. An example would be to
pray Psalm 91:2-6 You
are_____God; in you I will trust. He will keep _____safe from all hidden dangers. He
will cover _____with his wings; _____will be safe in his care; his
faithfulness will protect and defend_____. ____need not fear any
dangers at night or sudden attacks during the day or the plagues that strike in
the dark or the evils that kill in daylight. GNB
Continue on inserting your loved
one name in the verses of this Psalm. The Bible says the Word will not return to us void. There is power in
praying God’s word. He says it so much better than we do. In fact search
through the Psalms for ways you can pray for your military
grandson/granddaughter. Remember to pray for the wives/husbands and great-grandchildren who are stateside. They have a lot to deal with too. Collect and write the verses you found in a notebook to pray and also to
comfort you, building your faith in God. Also, you must leave your
grandchild, and their troop in God’s hands, trusting him, knowing the Almighty is the
one who is sovereign (in control) over all of creation. May God’s blessings be
upon you as you enlist ways to support your military grandchild, their troop, and the families involved.
