LESSON 4, WEEK 12–Praying for Protection on Our Family (1st part of a 2 part lesson)

Scripture for the week: I looked for a man among them who would build up the wall and stand before me in the gap on behalf of the land so I would not have to destroy it, but I found none. Ezekiel 22:30 NIV

You can be certain that in the last days there will be some very hard times. People will love only themselves and money. They will be proud, stuck-up, rude, and disobedient to their parents. They will also be ungrateful, godless, heartless, and hateful. Their words will be cruel, and they will have no self-control or pity. These people will hate everything good. They will be sneaky, reckless, and puffed up with pride. Instead of loving God, they will love pleasure. Even though they will make a show of being religious, their religion won’t be real. Don’t have anything to do with such people.2 Timothy 3: 1-5 CEV

*Before you begin, ask God to reveal His truth to you as you study His Word.

*Because this lesson is extremely long, the format for the next two days will be different. Day 5, instead of being a review will be a continuation of Day 4.

Think On These Things:

We need to be standing in the gap for our families more than ever. The signs of the times can be seen on TV, restaurants, schools, and about anywhere we go. Evil is rampant. There is no self-control. False religions abound. There is a cruelty in people’s hearts that can only come from Satan.

What can we do? What can we do? We need to quit wringing our hands and hit the floor on our knees. This is a time we pull out all stops and pray for our grandchildren—make that our entire family. Never doubt your call to stand in the gap for your grandchildren.

I personally believe in praying the Word—by that I mean, inserting your grandchild’s name in a verse, or praying a verse for your entire family.

Why do that? Because in Hebrews 4:12 (CEV), we are told God’s Word is alive and powerful! Also, Isaiah 55: 11 (NIV) says, So is my Word that goes out from my mouth. It will not return to me empty, but will accomplish what I desire and achieve the purpose for which I sent it.

Pray for protection from evil seen and unseen (you can even name the evils—murders, child stealers, rapists, perverts, sociopaths, terrorists )—

Dear God, please protect __________from all manner of evil. I claim Your promise that Weapons made to attack _____won’t be successful. Isaiah 545:17a CEV

Pray for traveling mercies—Please keep my grandchildren and family safe while traveling. __________will be blessed when you (they) come in and blessed when you (they go out) Deuteronomy 28:6 NIV (Parenthesis mine).

Pray for protections from the elements—Lord, protect ___________from (name it—tornado, storm, hail, hurricane, fire, flooding) But let all who take refuge in you be glad; let them ever sing for joy. Spread your protection over them, that those who love your name may rejoice in you. Psalm 5:11 NIV

Pray for protection on their minds—Father God, protect __________mind.

I pray that they Do not conform any longer to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of ___________ mind. Romans 12:2 NIV

Pray for protection from false religions, astrology, paranormal, mediums, and the occult—Let it be understood that this is a pagan practice and the Bible addresses it in 1 Chronicles 10:13-14

Saul died because he was unfaithful to the LORD; he did not keep the word of the LORD and even consulted a medium for guidance, and did not inquire of the LORD. So the LORD put him to death and turned the kingdom over to David son of Jesse. (Note: The medium was not of God, for it says he turned to the medium instead of God.)

All the counsel you have received has only worn you out! Let your astrologers come forward, those stargazers who make predictions month by month, let them save you from what is coming upon you. Surely they are like stubble; the fire will burn them up.Isaiah 47:13-14 NIV

For false Christs and false prophets will appear and perform great signs and miracles to deceive even the elect—if that were possible. Matthew 24:24 NIV

Father God, protect my family from all manner of false doctrine, and the lure of the occult. Sometimes, in our humanness, we want to run ahead of You and know the future, like that is even possible. Instead, I pray that my

Family inquire of the LORD, and be delivered from stargazers who make predictions month by month. Give all of us discernment regarding false Christs and false prophets.
